The “Twitter Files”: Elon Musk’s wet firecracker

The

The tsunami promised by Elon Musk with the sharing of “Twitter Files”a series of revelations “proving the suppression of free speech by the social network”, ultimately turned into a splash for the Biden clan.

Indeed, according to MSNBCthe “explosive information” reported by author Matt Taibbi and shared by the owner of Twitter failed to provide additional evidence regarding the pressure exerted by Democrats to censor the story of the New York Post relating to the hacked emails of Hunter Biden, the son of the American president.

The

This series of publications rather takes up several pieces of information that have already been known for a while by illustrating the internal debate that took place within Twitter’s moderation teams.

the washington post reports that these tweets show that the decision to limit the scope of the article of the New York Post comes from the social network and not from the democratic clan.

We even learned that Ro Khanna, an elected Democrat, took to Twitter to spread the news, despite the consequences it could have on his party.

The

In addition, the former CEO of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, had already expressed himself on the controversy in the United States Senate in 2020 by affirming that the measures taken by the social network to limit the dissemination of the investigation were “a mistake”.

Joe Biden’s campaign team reportedly intervened with Twitter executives to demand the removal of photos of Hunter Biden where he was seen completely naked. Similar demands have also been made by Republicans in the past.

A slippery slope

This survey of New York Post started at a Delaware computer repairman who allegedly salvaged Joe Biden’s son’s computer.

The man is said to have discovered incriminating documents that would prove Hunter Biden’s involvement in a tax evasion case. Pornographic images involving the president’s son and videos showing him taking drugs were also found.

Most of the major American media have treated this affair with great suspicion. Indeed, the New York Times reported that hackers hired by Moscow were trying to divide American voters by sharing misleading information about the Biden clan in the 2020 election.

The

Note, however, that the New York Times has since confirmed some information from the conservative tabloid. Hunter Biden would indeed have several tax problems which are scrutinized by the American justice.

Twitter, accused along with Facebook of having spread fake news concocted by Russia in 2016, would therefore have acted excessively cautiously by limiting the dissemination of the story of the New York Post.

Disappointing

The “Twitter Files” received a mixed reception in the United States. If the hashtag #TWITTERGATE was part of the trends in the country of Uncle Sam, some conservative analysts remained unsatisfied.

“We saw several useful information, explained to FoxNews Miranda Devine, a columnist at New York Post. However, it was not the bomb that we were expecting”. The latter claimed, without proof, that Elon Musk “withheld material”.

“So far, I am deeply disappointed, commented on his side Sebastian Gorka, a member of the team of Donald Trump. We know that DC Democrats are colluding with those of Palo Atlo (an American company specializing in cybersecurity).

Former Twitter employees also see it as a settling of scores on the part of Elon Musk against the former administration.

The names and email addresses of several staff members appear in screenshots shared as part of the “Twitter Files”. Several of them reportedly started receiving threats.

“We are furious, confided a former employee to the washington post. It’s disgusting that they release names publicly. It can kill someone.”
