Bill Gates confided in his divorce with Melinda Gates in the columns of Paris Match published this Thursday. The end of 27 years of marriage…on good terms.
In 2021, Bill and Melinda Gates announce their divorce. The couple separate after 27 years of marriage, celebrated in 1994. The couple had met through Microsoft, Melinda working in the marketing department at the time. In 2000, they created the Bill-and-Melinda-Gates Foundation, which works to fight poverty, disease and inequality around the world.
For their fund, they still work together today. “We are constantly exchanging e-mails in relation to the foundation, told Bill Gates in the pages of Paris Match this Thursday. Mélinda is a valuable partner in ensuring that the money I have invested is spent in the most effective way. I praise the way he works with me, seeing what I don’t see.”
Bill Gates on good terms with Melinda
The founder of Microsoft claims to have a good relationship with his ex-wife and their three children, Phoebe, Jennifer and Rory. “I also have three wonderful children and a very good relationship with Melinda, despite all the mistakes I may have made. So, I consider myself very lucky that she chose to stay at the foundation!”
What is the reason for the divorce? According to a spokesperson for the IT group, “Bill Gates sought to establish an intimate relationship with a company employee in 2000. A board committee reviewed the issue, aided by an outside law firm, to conduct a thorough investigation“. The employee, an engineer within Microsoft, had affirmed, in a letter, to have maintained a sexual relationship with Bill Gates “for years“, relates the Wall Street Journal, before specifying that the resignation of the billionaire had taken place before the end of this investigation.
