In an interview with CNN, billionaire Bill Gates, very invested in research against the coronavirus, considers that a booster dose every six months is necessary to guarantee effective protection.
Bill Gatesthe billionaire philanthropist continues his great tour of the American media to promote his book “How to prevent the next pandemic“. In his book, the founder of Microsoft dissects the strategies for combating Covid-19, discusses the appearance of new variants but also aims for the future and tries to find solutions to the next global pandemic, because yes, there is will have one and it may be even more deadly, according to him.
Questioned this Sunday, May 15 by the CNN channel, Bill Gates advises all people over the age of 50 to receive a booster dose…every six months. Currently only a booster dose, the fourth, is recommended today for over 60s in France.
If he considers that a booster dose every six months protects even better against the virus, it is that he himself tested positive last week. “I tested positive for Covid. I have some mild symptoms, I am isolated and followed by experts.” he shared on Twitter before adding: “I am fortunately vaccinated with a booster dose”.
I’m fortunate to be vaccinated and boosted and have access to testing and great medical care.

Anderson Cooper, the host of CNN then asks Bill Gates if despite his recent infection he still plans to receive another dose. “Yes, absolutely”, indicates Bill Gates who then recommends that people over the age of 60 do the same regularlyt.
For all people between 50 and 60 years old, one dose every six months seems to me to be the right solution as long as we don’t have better vaccines” explains the billionaire who is very invested in research. He even considers that this period could be further reduced for people aged between 60 and 70 in order to guarantee “a optimal health security”.
Bill Gates: For people over 50 or 60, they’ll probably have to get boosted every 6 months until we get even better vaccines; so we’re in for ongoing vaccination to stay absolutely safe… pic.twitter.com/zqHXbCPzkK

Regularly targeted by many conspiracy theories around vaccines and the research that he subsidizes to the tune of several million dollars with his foundation, Gates is amused that people can doubt his sincerity. “I don’t know how anyone can think that implanting chips with the vaccine interests me,” he says.
And to deplore that because of his rumors “the United States today records a complete vaccination course rate much lower than in other countries”.
The “GERM” as a solution
In his book, he details how he imagines the future of the pandemic with the creation of an international entity to work on the issue.
the GERMS for (Global Epidemic Response and Mobilization), would thus be the new planetary institution to respond to this kind of problem according to Bill Gates.
“What we need isa well-funded global organization with enough full-time experts in all the necessary fields, credibility and authority, all in a public institution and with a clear mandate to focus on the prevention of pandemics.” hopes the philanthropist.
According to his calculations, the creation of such an organization would be “a good deal” in comparison to the staggering cost of a new pandemic. “I estimated the cost of operating the GERM team at approximately $1 billion per year, to cover the salaries of 3,000 people plus equipment, travel and other expenses. To put that number into perspective, $1 billion a year is less than 0.1% of annual global defense spending.
